Aces focus. Their singular focus establishes a target, defining what lies inside and outside the bounds. And so, Aces simultaneously gather and divide through the act of discernment.

Ace of Wands divides life from death, organic from inorganic, manifest from latent. Ace of Swords divides sky and earth, up from down, left from right, and so creates direction. Ace of Pentacles divides inside and outside, garden from wilderness, body from environment. The still waters of the Ace of Cups flow. The cup defines containment from release.
